Product Description

Ocean Plant Extract is highly concentrated form of Laminaria japonica, a seaweed that contains antiviral, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory agents, including a potent polysaccharide that has confirmed impact on respiratory viruses.17 40 pounds of Laminaria japonica are used to make just one pound of Ocean Plant Extract.

Along with the highly nutritious laminaria, Ocean Plant Extract contains alginates that may help to purge heavy metals from the body.18,19 These include mercury, lead, and strontium. Ocean Plant Extract is also rich in minerals — like bioavailable ionic iodine to help support the thyroid, as well as calcium, magnesium, iron, manganese, and selenium.

Mineral support is an integral part of The Body Ecology Diet to create optimal health.

A super-concentrated seaweed extract you can’t find just anywhere

Ocean Plant Extract™ is a raw, concentrated, exceptionally pure food supplement made from the hardy ocean vegetable called laminaria.* Wild-grown and harvested in Patagonia, the heavy outer fibers of the laminaria are removed with low-temperature processing. Only the valuable nutrients remain in a condensed, fully digestible form.

The power of Ocean Plant Extract comes from this wild ocean vegetable: 40 pounds of seaweed are used to make only one pound of this extract. Ocean Plant Extract is non-GMO, dairy-free, soy-free, gluten-free, and vegan.

Ocean Plant Extract contains:

  • Alginates: Natural polymers derived from seaweed that have long-term potential to be used to help manage symptoms of GERD.*5
  • Amino acids: 18 confirmed amino acids that include glutamic acid, alanine, glycine, and aspartic acid, vital for synthesizing protein.6
  • Essential sugars: Fucose, mannose, and glucuronic acid — naturally occurring in ocean plants — have been shown to enhance cellular communication, and immune function.7,8
  • Minerals: Iodine in a bio-available ionic form, along with iron, calcium, magnesium, manganese, and selenium.9
  • Vitamins: A, B1, B2, B3, B12, C, and E to help promote a healthy heart, brain, eyes, skin, and immune and nervous systems.10-15

Laminaria also contains antiviral, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory agents, including a potent polysaccharide that has confirmed impact on viruses. Its effect against enterovirus 71 (EV71), the virus behind hand, foot, and mouth and some neurological diseases, is just one example of how laminaria can be used to boost immunity.16 The polysaccharide in laminaria may also help protect against other common respiratory viruses.17

An easy way to up your iodine intake. (Your thyroid will thank you.)

Too many of us are missing the amount of daily iodine we need. This increases the odds that our health will suffer and our thyroid will become imbalanced. Continuously plummeting mineral levels in our soil, combined with a modern processed food diet, have created a perfect storm, leaving approximately 30 percent of the world at risk for iodine deficiency.20

Bringing these numbers down is critically important. Otherwise, research suggests that health problems like goiter, hypothyroidism, and potential intellectual and physical disabilities will only increase.20 And while it’s a great idea to bridge the gap by eating more iodine-rich foods, even some of the recommended food sources aren’t what they seem.

Would you believe that organic milk actually has lower iodine, selenium, and zinc levels than its commercial alternative? That’s what European researchers learned after testing milk from over 30 farms only a few years ago.21 The researchers unsurprisingly suggested seaweed as a reliable source of iodine that can bring “good results" when added to the diet.

Laminaria is an exceptional source of iodine. Cooking with seaweed to increase a food’s mineral content is both nutritious and delicious. But on days when time is short, taking highly-concentrated laminaria can be money-saving and convenient. Seaweed may cost $25 per pound on the low end, adding up to $1,000 to purchase -- and eat -- the 40 pounds of seaweed that goes into one pound of Ocean Plant Extract.22

Ocean Plant Extract supports a healthy thyroid and aids in detoxification, in addition to having antiviral, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory properties.1-4,9,18

Get more for less. For many Ocean Plant users, this means more energy. That’s one of the most noticeable benefits reported from taking rich ocean minerals at such a high concentration, noted to have an almost-immediate effect. Sometimes, these changes are seen in as little as a week, though results can vary. Whether you have a thyroid disorder or are simply feeling sluggish, getting more ocean minerals from the source may help to bring your body and your thyroid back into balance.

Suggested use: To support detoxification and thyroid health, try taking 3 capsules every morning, on an empty stomach with plenty of water.
